The Filolo Portugal Summer Camp offers you the chance to combine 7.5 hours of relaxed English language lessons with a 12,5-hour week-long surf course on Portugal's stunning West Coast.
Our location gives you the safety and security of a small beachtown within an hour’s drive of both Lisbon and Sintra - meaning you can relax and soak up the sun with exciting and dynamic excursions just around the corner!
One week at Filolo's Surf Camp includes:
Our unique Surf Camp takes place at the Underdog Beach House in Praia da Areia Branca in Western Portugal, less than an hours drive from Lisbon. The entire beach house is exclusively available to us and looks onto the beach, which is literally just a few steps away!
Sunday
Transfer from Lisbon Airport to the camp.
Dinner, icebreaker games, rules briefing, bedtime at 10:30 PM.
Monday
Morning: Surfing lesson from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
Afternoon: Language classes or workshops from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM.
Evening: Barbecue and group games.
Tuesday
Morning: Surfing lesson from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
Afternoon: Excursion 1 – Go-karting.
Evening: Movie night.
Wednesday
Morning: Surfing lesson from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
Afternoon: Language classes or workshops from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM.
Evening: Relaxed evening.
Thursday
Morning: Surfing lesson from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
Afternoon and Evening: Excursion 2 – Lisbon or Berlengas Islands, plus a visit to Peniche with free time.
Friday
Morning: Surfing lesson from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
Afternoon: Language classes or workshops from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM.
Evening: Themed evening or summer disco.
Saturday
Sleep in.
Return flight from Lisbon.
Note: The programme we have provided for our surf camp is merely a sample. Surfing is a sport shaped by a unique combination of nature and human conditions. Therefore, our programme is subject to change depending on wave conditions, heat, fatigue, and other factors. Rest assured, you will get all your surf and language lessons, a top-notch learning experience, and the holiday of a lifetime! We might just shuffle things around a little bit.
Just a five minute walk from the beach, Underdog Surf House offers the perfect place for young surfers.
Spacious rooms with private bathrooms ensure comfort after long days in the waves. The pool and sun terrace invite you to relax, while the private garden provides peaceful spots to unwind.
For leisure time, there is a pool table and table football available. From the rooftop terrace, you can not only see the waves but also hear them, the ocean is always present here.
Praia da Areia Branca translates to white sand beach and that is exactly what participants of our Filolo surf camp can expect. This small coastal village on the Atlantic is calm, safe and located away from the major tourist centers.
The village has around 1,000 residents and is about one hour north of Lisbon Airport. The area is characterized by long sandy beaches, impressive cliffs and a relaxed surf culture.
About 20 minutes to the north is the well known surf town of Peniche, considered one of the best surf spots in Europe. From there we also start our weekly boat trip to the Berlengas Islands, a real highlight for our participants.

Our standard accommodation is a spacious 9 bed dormitory.
5 bed room
Bright 5 bed rooms where you sleep in a single bed and have enough space for your belongings. All bedding is provided by us. Girls and boys sleep separately.
2 bed room
For even more peace and comfort, our 2 bed rooms are the perfect option.
Group House & Surf Lessons
Just a 5-minute walk from the beach, Underdog Surf House is designed for young surfers to feel at home. Spacious rooms with en-suite bathrooms provide comfort after long days in the waves. The pool and sun deck offer space to relax, while the private garden is perfect for unwinding. For downtime, there’s a pool table and table football to keep the energy going. From the top floor, the sound of the ocean drifts through the windows, and the waves are always in sight. Safe, welcoming, and built for adventure—this is where surf memories begin
For surf courses, we partner with Ripar Surf School, a fully certified and accredited Portuguese surf provider. With experienced instructors and a strong focus on safety and technique, young surfers receive professional guidance tailored to their level. Whether beginners or more advanced, they’ll gain confidence in the water while having fun
Food
In our surf and language camp in Portugal, food is also the focus, as our own kitchen team specially prepare meals that offer a perfect blend of flavour and nutrition. Expect freshly prepared meals using locally sourced vegetables, fish and seafood, as well as Portuguese cheeses and of course, the famous Pastel de Nata! We do, of course, cater to dietary requirements of all shapes and sizes, from the casual dislikes to the potentially fatal - just be sure to let us know and our kitchen team will have you covered!

At Surf Camp, we are highly dependent on the waves. In addition, heat and tiredness/muscle soreness are important factors to take seriously.
Therefore, the times given in the sample programme are only intended as a rough guide. Together with the kids, we plan the individual days flexibly according to wishes and needs.
We want to avoid bad waves, sunburn and injuries, and instead create the best kids’ surf camp together while chasing the perfect wave.
By prior arrangement, your child can travel together with our team from Zurich or Geneva to Portugal and back.
Please note that flights are NOT included in the price.
Our accompanied group flights are currently operated with TAP Air Portugal. Depending on the camp week, the flight departs either from Zurich Airport or Geneva Airport.
You can of course also book the flight separately and still travel with our group, provided that the flight times match.
Alternatively, your child can travel individually to Lisbon with another airline. In this case, we will be happy to organise the transfer from and to Lisbon Airport.
Please note that each airline has its own guidelines for children travelling alone.
Arrival takes place on Sundays, departure on Saturdays.
The airport transfer from/to Lisbon Airport is also included in the price for children travelling alone.
Arrival should take place on Sundays between 14:00 and 18:00, and departure on Saturday.
Please contact the office if you have any further questions. For flights outside these times, an additional transfer fee may apply.
