Filolo Language Camps in Switzerland

Filolo organises multilingual language camps in Switzerland for children and teenagers aged 10 to 17.

Hello, salut, ciao, allegra & hello – I’m Seb

My name is Sebastian, but everyone calls me Seb. I’m originally from beautiful Stuttgart and today I’m living my dream of organizing vibrant language camps in Western Switzerland. Together with an international team, I create unforgettable language experiences full of fun, friendship and discovery.

With my background in youth work and my passion for languages, people and cultures, I want to show that learning a language can be so much more than memorizing grammar and vocabulary. At Filolo, it’s all about experiencing language – feeling it, hearing it and living it.

I’ve lived in Argentina, Ireland, Portugal and Brazil, and since 2012 Switzerland has been my home. Besides German, I speak English, French, Spanish and Portuguese, and I’m always curious to learn more about other languages and cultures.

When I’m not at camp, I love playing football or skiing. I enjoy good food, traveling and spending time with family and friends. But what makes me happiest is seeing our participants leave the camp with a big smile and unforgettable memories.

Filolo Parent Club

Safety and trust – because it’s about our families.

At Filolo, safety, transparency and trust always come first.
That’s why we created the Filolo Parent Club for all parents whose children attend one of our camps.

In this protected space, parents receive regular updates from the camp, including current information, photos and videos from their children’s daily activities.
This way, families stay informed every day and can closely follow their child’s camp experience.

Access is simple and provided via a personal invitation link.

A place for closeness, transparency and trust.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions

What types of camps are offered?

Filolo offers a wide range of camps for children and teenagers, including language camps with or without lessons, tennis and mountain bike camps, multi-sport programs, and camps that combine language learning with sports. In addition, there are multi-activity camps without a specific focus as well as ski and snowboard camps in winter.

What is a language camp?

A language camp is an ideal opportunity to learn a foreign language in a dynamic and motivating environment. Filolo combines high-quality language lessons with engaging leisure activities that encourage both learning and cultural exchange.

Why choose a language camp?

Language camps provide significantly more active speaking time than traditional school lessons. Small groups of up to six participants allow for more interaction, individual attention, and faster progress. Around 15 hours of lessons per week can equal several weeks of school-based learning.

Who are the camps suitable for?

Filolo camps are designed for children and teenagers aged 10 to 17. Mixed groups allow participants to learn from each other and create a positive, inclusive group dynamic.

Is flexible rebooking possible?

Bookings can be changed free of charge up to 14 days before the start date. Participants can reschedule within the next 18 months or transfer the booking to family members or friends.

Do camps take place on public holidays?

Camps run as usual on Swiss public holidays with full programs and no additional charges, including Easter, National Day, Christmas, and New Year.

Questions many kids ask

What can participants expect?

Participants can expect new friendships, fun experiences, and practical language learning. Activities, excursions, and shared experiences create a welcoming environment from the very beginning.

What is the atmosphere like in the camp?

The camps offer a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where participants and staff interact on a first-name basis, creating a strong sense of community.

How do language lessons work?

Lessons focus on communication rather than perfection. Participants actively use the language, build confidence, and learn practical strategies for real-life situations.

What does the first day look like?

Arrival takes place on Sunday evening, followed by a short introduction, dinner, icebreaker activities, and a language assessment. Participants quickly connect with others.

What food is provided?

Meals are varied and balanced, combining healthy options with popular favorites like BBQ, pasta, and Swiss specialties. Vegetarian and vegan options are available.

Questions many parents ask

Is the camp suitable for shy children?

The camps are suitable for children who are traveling alone for the first time or are more reserved. Staff ensure a supportive environment and help children quickly feel comfortable.

How do arrival and departure work?

Arrival takes place on Sunday afternoon and departure on Saturday. Both individual travel and accompanied train journeys are possible.

Who is the contact person in the camp and what about emergencies?

Parents receive contact details before arrival. In case of emergencies, parents are informed immediately and camp management is available daily.

Are phones allowed in the camp?

Phone usage is limited to around 30–60 minutes per day to encourage social interaction and active participation.

How are language groups assigned?

Groups are assigned based on language level, determined through a short test on arrival. Age and friendships may also be considered.

Are the camps suitable for children with ADHD or learning difficulties?

Camps can accommodate children with learning difficulties through small groups and supportive teaching, but do not replace professional therapy.

Is there a laundry service?

A free laundry service is available. Participants sort their clothes themselves. No liability is assumed for damage caused by incorrect sorting.

Is there an accompanied train arrival and departure?

Accompanied train travel from and to Zurich main station is available, with flexible boarding and drop-off options along the route.
